Our Vision
Our main goals with DJ’s Kayak Rental were to communicate the passion and excitement that DJ brings to his business and to position DJ’s as the foremost kayak rental experience in Alachua County. We sought to do this by providing a simple, engaging way for people to get more information and rent kayaks.
Fun
Underpinning all else, DJ’s Kayak Rentals seeks to provide a fun experience. To showcase this, we utilized high-quality images of people experiencing the thrill of kayaking on Lake Santa Fe. These images promote an aspirational identity for those looking for a way to enjoy a day on the water.
Effortless
Renting a kayak is a blast and the website’s user experience should reflect that. PHOS created a seamless online rental experience that is straightforward and painless.
Compelling
DJ’s Kayak Rental is situated on one of Florida’s hidden gems. A quiet, 5,850-acre spring-fed lake surrounded by old-growth cypress trees teeming with abundant wildlife. To captivate and persuade new visitors, it was important to highlight the beauty of kayaking on Lake Santa Fe in DJ’s website content.
The Strategy
The PHOS team collaborated with DJ’s Kayak Rental to better understand the organization’s values, identity, and vision. We used this information to develop a strategy that would help them achieve their business goals.
Based on these findings, PHOS designed and developed a first-class website that showcased the beauty of Lake Santa Fe and the excitement and ease of renting a kayak with DJ’s.
Kayaking is a very experiential activity. With this in mind, we utilized professional photography that included people enjoying rentals from DJ’s to capture the emotion and exhilaration of kayaking Lake Santa Fe. These images encourage the audience to connect with the website and see themselves having the same thrilling experiences.
Website Design
Renting a kayak from DJ’s is anything but ordinary. Zydeco music is playing, the counter is a repurposed surfboard, and the owner is always smiling.
Our web design had to reflect this creativity and personability, while at the same time showcasing the rental options and providing a simple way to take the next step to get a rental.
Photography
It’s said that “A picture is worth a thousand words,” and this is especially true of kayaking on Lake Santa Fe. The beauty of the lake and surrounding area could only be captured with high-quality images.
We set up a private photoshoot to record a group enjoying the lake in DJ’s kayaks. These images set the tone for the website and helped achieve our vision of making the website fun and compelling.
Copywriting
Answering common visitor questions like: “How much will it cost?” “What should I expect?” and “How do I take the next step?” within a single-page website can be a challenge.
The copy on the DJ’s website was crafted with a focus on answering questions like these while leading visitors to take the action of renting a kayak.
Results
People now have a simple, accessible way to experience DJ’s passion for paddling on Lake Santa Fe and, as a result, the positive reviews have been pouring in. Many reviews offer a similar sentiment to the following:
