Position Overview
The Head of Business Development is one of PHOS’ most prominent faces. They will talk with more people, network with more professionals, and interface with more prospects than almost any other person at PHOS. As a result, this role is arguably one of the biggest mission ambassador roles on our team, pushing our ministry further and faster in the marketplace.
Within PHOS’ sales processes, there are three distinct sales-related roles:
- Hunter-Gatherer (Lead Sourcer)
The hunter-gatherer is responsible for sourcing new opportunities, prospects, and accounts. They can quickly build rapport with prospects, but they are also keenly interested in fertilizing and watering long-term relationships. They have a deep understanding of our target audience and buyer personas and know how to engage them with a compelling offer at the start of their buying journey. - Strategist (Engagement Plan Creator)
The strategist is responsible for identifying the needs of each client, their goals, challenges, and opportunities. They are gifted at crafting custom plans for each client that align an intentional growth plan with a clear deliverable set. They work to drive value to both the client’s and PHOS’ bottom line. - Administrator (Concierge and Closer)
The administrator is responsible for getting the contract signed and seeing the client successfully transitioned into production. They monitor the details, schedule meetings, set next steps, facilitate contractual modifications, and provide detailed meeting follow-ups.
While PHOS’ Head of Business Development is eager to serve PHOS’ sales needs in whatever capacity is most necessary, they are intensely focused on the hunter-gatherer role. Their primary objective is to create the opportunities necessary to meet and exceed PHOS’ monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals. PHOS’ mantra “no margin, no mission” drives them to develop a sustainable multi-channel outreach strategy to engage buyers at the top of the funnel.
Driven by a desire to deliver the most value for customers, they study our best clients, relentlessly pursuing a deep understanding of our ideal client so they can find more like-minded organizations who can genuinely benefit from PHOS’ services. They avoid even a hint of manipulative or coercive sales practices that erode trust in our company and our industry. Instead, they see customers as more than buyers, but as partners and co-designers of our services, actively engaging their insights to shape impactful and innovative offerings.
“We must build bridges of trust that can bear the weight of truth.”
Dr. Tim Elmore
In as much as they are hunters, they are also farmers. They understand the need to build trust and that building trust takes time. They are invested in the long haul, staying connected to prospects and building into deep relationships.
Working with our operations teams, the Head of Business Development is dedicated to finding clients that can reliably and profitably deliver missional impact for PHOS and its clients. They are committed to ensuring we deliver products that consistently exceed customer expectations in quality and trustworthiness, making trust a cornerstone of our value proposition.
