Engaging Students to Lead Their Purpose

The Challenge

Beacon College is a private college in Leesburg, Florida, that serves students with dyslexia, ADHD, or other specific learning disabilities. They are the first college in the nation accredited to award bachelor’s degrees exclusively to students with learning disabilities and ADHD. They pride themselves on being a competitive higher education institution in the arts, sciences, business, and technology.

Beacon College’s website was outdated, tired, and hard to manage. It did not reflect the innovative spirit of the institution, nor did it communicate the authentic experience a student would enjoy. They needed to transform their website and better communicate their unique value.

Our Vision

When visiting or attending Beacon College, you can feel the intentionality taken to invest in the student body and their education. However, for a potential student, that experience did not translate on their website. Our vision for their website was to capture what was felt in person digitally.

Beacon takes pride in its dynamic and diverse student body. Through an easy-to-navigate website and stunning photography that captures student life, prospective students can easily envision themselves thriving at Beacon.
Beacon aimed to showcase its academic excellence to remain competitive with other state and private colleges. To achieve this, we needed to emphasize their programs and key proof points on the website.
As a small, private college, Beacon uniquely appeals to students seeking a personalized learning experience. This affected both the user journey and the website content.

The Solution

By creating a visually stunning website that intentionally guides potential students and their families to explore the college, Beacon reinforces its expertise in empowering students to grow both academically and personally.

Their digital presence now accurately reflects the exceptional college experience they provide to their dynamic student body. The website effectively highlights Beacon’s offerings, benefits, and unique programs with clarity.

The Branding

Before we could begin planning the website design, we first needed to align on visual and verbal identity. This would inform every aspect of the website’s design, functionality, and content.
For Beacon College, we worked with their team to identify the attributes that they wanted their college to be known for online and in-person.

The Web Design & Development

Beacon’s new website needed to dynamically capture interest, inform potential and current students, as well as communicate their rigorous and robust academic program.
With enhanced visuals, a clear user experience, and effective messaging, the new website positions Beacon College as a trusted, innovative institution.

Unique Website Features

We brought the sitemap to life with clear main navigation as well as the masthead options and footer information. We leveraged a “mega menu” that can fit a lot of information in a non-overwhelming way.
Beacon also needed to showcase its academic excellence to compete with other colleges, highlighting both diverse and specialized programs like Anthrozoology. Program pages used authentic photography and clear details on coursework, key information, and career opportunities to inform and excite prospective students.

Content Development

To create a more effective website, we streamlined Beacon College’s 3,000+ page site to under 100 pages, ensuring streamlined navigation and a focus on essential content. The sitemap served as our guide, organizing key areas like Admissions, Academics, and Student Life, while addressing the needs of students and parents.
Our content strategy prioritized clarity, accessibility, and actionability, making vital information easy to find within one or two clicks.

Photography & Videography

The website features high-quality photography to position Beacon as a warm, rigorous, and people-centered college. Images capture campus life, academic programs, and classroom settings to emphasize the full student experience.
Showcasing a diverse and dynamic student body helps prospective students see themselves as part of the Beacon community.
